Reading others' work is beneficial to writers for many reasons; It allows you to see what works, what doesn't work, to help you understand what sells, it will expand your vocabulary AND it will help you write better.
During your journey of writing your book, make sure to schedule in time to read at least a book a month. While reading in general is the goal, reading books that are within the genre of your project can potentially bring other perspectives or ideas to mind.
